Some mornings are kind of laid back, and we get the chance to visit with each and every guest staying at our B & B. We have been full the past few nights with a variety of people from all over the world. Today, there’s a young couple who are expecting a baby (staying in the Rose Room) – visiting from Switzerland. There’s a woman from Georgia, in her 70’s, who flew for the first time in her life, hanging out with her daughter and high school friend down in Moose Manor. Another couple is from Montreal – here seeing Alaska and all that it has to offer, in the Blueberry Room. A group of three from up by Fairbanks is staying in our Cottonwood room, and a single guy from Anchorage is in the Bear’s Den; they are attending the annual 4-day writers conference down on the spit. A couple from Anchorage is staying in one side of the cabin, entertaining a mother and daughter from Illinois – doing a short tour of the Kenai Peninsula. It is always fun to hear what folks did yesterday, what they are planning for today, tell some fun stories, and hear some too. We drink lots of coffee. Everyone rants and raves about Maria’s breakfast. There is so much food, so many choices, so many sauces and toppings; this ain’t your typical bed and continental breakfast. People are on vacation; they are always happy, and it is just darn hard to fail in this beautiful home, in the beautiful setting, with this majestic view. I like that.
